WARREN EASTON HALL OF FAME

The 17th annual Warren Easton Hall of Fame Induction ceremony is set for Friday, May 16 at 7:00 PM at the Warren Easton auditorium, 3019 Canal Street, NOLA 70119. Inductees include 1987 graduate RYAN JOHNSON, a highly decorated D.E.A. special agent based in Houston, Texas; JOHN “AL” MIPRO (1954) former Sherwin Williams executive, D-Day Museum volunteer and founding member of the Warren Easton Charter Foundation; NORMAN HEDRICK (1943), WWII veteran, businessman and member of the undefeated 1942 Warren Easton State Championship football team; and honorary inductee HENRY LOWENTRITT, Project Manager for International Matex Tank Terminals and director of the Rotary Club of New Orleans’ “Saving Warren Easton” program, which raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the school. JOHN CURTIS (1940) founder of John Curtis Christian School will be inducted posthumously.

NOPD officer NICOLA COTTON (2001), who was killed in the line of duty this year, will also be honored at the ceremony.

About the Hall of Fame

Since 1991, more than 100 members of the Easton family have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, including Mayor Victor Schiro, Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court Betty Weaver, NFL Hall of Famer Steve Van Buren, UCLA Physician Dr. James Louie, legendary musician Pete Fountain, and Dr. Shelton Hendricks, Dean of the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Selection to the Warren Easton Hall of Fame is based upon outstanding contribution to the community, excellence of character, significant professional accomplishments and a demonstrated love for Warren Easton High School. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize Warren Easton alumni and members of the Easton family for their achievements and to set a standard for current students and future

Easton alum Troy (Trombone Shorty) Andrews (2004) led the nationally televised pre-game musical show for the NBA All-Star game in New Orleans.
