Sandra Bullock funds Warren Easton Hall Of Fame Scholarships
Posted: March 15, 2007

For the past ten years the Warren Easton Hall of Fame has collected donations from alumni and friends for the purpose of funding $500 scholarships given to selected seniors to help pay for books and supplies during their first semester at college. We present these awards at the annual Hall of Fame induction. Sandra Bullock, who has already donated a very large sum for the renovation of the auditorium and for new band uniforms, has pledged to match these scholarship donations this year. Traditionally donors have named the scholarships for their parents, a loved one or a favorite teacher. In some years a group has pooled its funds and made a donation in the name of their graduating class. Donations of any size will be accepted and combined to give as many scholarships as possible.

If you can help, please make a check payable to the Warren Easton Charter Foundation and mail to Arthur Hardy, Warren Easton Charter Foundation, P.O. Box 19500, NOLA 70179.

We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and all donations are deductible.

And please plan to attend the Hall of Fame induction and open house on Friday, May 25, 2007 @ 7:30 p.m. in the school library.

We will announce this year’s inductees next week on this site.

Come visit your alma mater. You will be proud to be an Eagle.

WARREN EASTON TODAY
Posted: November 08, 2006

After being closed for one year, Warren Easton Senior High School
opened as a charter school on September 7, 2006, with 792 students. As
an inner-city school, Easton is dedicated to educating the children of
the working class families of New Orleans. Students have come home from
more than 40 states where they relocated after Hurricane Katrina.
Easton remains committed to those children and their families.

Faced with the possibility that the beloved school -- the oldest public
high school in New Orleans and a Louisiana landmark -- would not be
reopened by the local school board, the Warren Easton Charter
Foundation was organized. Comprised of alumni, faculty, staff and
concerned citizens, the foundation actively sought support in the
community to reopen their alma mater which had served as the anchor of
Mid City for thousands of families in the area.

Because of the school's reputation, philosophy and commitment to the
children, many generous donations have made that will provide present
and future students with the opportunity for success.

We invite all who come to this site to visit all areas and to join us in
supporting public education in New Orleans.
